A New Chapter

We pulled away from Big Sky, Montana, where Rainer and I had spent a combined 6+ years of our lives… which somehow grew from “staying for one season”, for both of us. We will miss our friends and co-workers, and also unbelievable experiences.

There are only a few places in the US where there’s 400 inches of snow annually, but never a snow day. Growing up in TN it was always a joyful morning to wake up with the news saying “Johnson City Schools are closed today”. In Big Sky, it was not that way. Although I’ve never experienced the urban lifestyle of winter weather, were the beautiful white stuff is scraped away quickly, Big Sky is truly a winter wonderland. On many, many occasions I was walking to work in knee high boots with snow skimming the tops of them. Lunch breaks were thrilling skiing from 11,000 ft. The local elementary school doesn't have outdoor recess below zero. Nothing stops life in this ski town, including 3 feet of snow, 20 degrees below, or worse, when the cable goes out (often)- everyone still carries on with ease.

But it’s the summers in Big Sky that Rainer and I loved the most. Long warm days, cool star-filled nights and plenty of recreation to keep us busy and out of a mall. From floating the Jefferson to golfing below Lone Peak, we loved our time and will miss the adventures and all our friends dearly.

We’re off to serve our Lord around the world. We’re excited where He might take us and what we will see and learn. We have given it all to God and are not at all anxious where this experience will lead us. Thank you to our family and friends and those praying for us.
