New Zealand phrases

We have loved getting to know Kiwis. They are so friendly, welcoming and very funny and blunt. We have been surrounded by passionate belivers that have invested in us, even with our short time here at YWAM. We have picked up a few Kiwi phrases along the way and had to read context clues to figure out what was going on....

Have a fizzy”- You should grab a coke.

Good on ya”- Good for you! Good job, I’m proud of you.

The sky is about to turn to custard”- It’s about to storm really bad.

Sweet as”- Used as a superlative or exclamation.

"capsicum"- bell pepper

These cookies are sweet as.
