Santorini part 1

It was so awesome to get off the plane in Athens, and there are my parents to greet us! We enjoyed a great dinner together at the airport hotel while we caught up from the past few months. The next day we flew a puddle jumper over to Santorini. It exceeded expectations- garnered from history books, and movies like "Mamma Mia" and that "Sisterhood" traveling pants one.

After a nail biting taxi ride, we arrived at a parking lot, at the top of the cliff. A bellman with a dolly loaded the 3 bags and our 2 backpacks and lead us down the winding stairs through little cutout steps in the rock. We watched him bounce that dolly over the steps and finally carry it all in just two loads down itty-bitty spiral stairs! We stayed in the white buildings carved into caves for living, with blue accents... bright blue doors, windows, railings, etc.... with the most incredible views of the aqua ocean, boats passing by and the many little islands surrounding. We went straight for the pool.

The town we were in (Oia) is supposed to have 'the best' sunsets, so we booked dinner at Ochre... right at sunset. And just to note, everytime we needed directions, it always included 'turn right at the windmill' or 'left at the windmill' which were beautiful, but as Rainer pointed out they don't do anything- never turning while we were there. It was a delicious meal including roasted chicken, greek salad (yes, they even call it 'greek salad' in Greece... haha), grilled feta and more.

PS I've had alot of emails/notes about more photos and so I'll try and post more!
