Frickenhausen & Rothenberg, Germany

We camped in Frickenhausen on a narrow river that still had huge river boats and long, very long barges passing through. The first night the students went around to other campers and rallied people to the amphitheatre for a performance. They took balloon animals (which they learned at training camp) and face painting. A lot of good conversations happened after the show with fellow campers, and some of our students got to practice their German. We have been meeting a lot of Dutch people, who are very kind and generous. A lot of them though, as with many Europeans, see Christianity as a religion, not a relationship. Another misconception is that being a believer comes with jumping through hoops, or a ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ list.

In Rothenberg, a small walled German town, they did two shows (show= dramas, dances, puppets) and surveys. The ministry time with surveys is a short questionnaire that opens conversation to what the person believes and hopefully creates a situation for the student to share the gospel with them.

Sticks skit in front of a crowd. This one has two sides (demons and angels). The sticks create a neat rhythm on the cobblestone. Christ is in the middle and it despicts spiritual warfare.

Love this little hotel
