Kenya, weeks 3 & 4

We have had a great past two weeks. Rainer and I are building fantastic relationships with each project we are involved with. God is working through us for His glory each day. Typically, here is our schedule:

Sunday- church in Nairobi, afternoon planning for the week and resting
Monday- Care for Aids home visits
Tuesday- house devotion before projects, K-branch art projects, construction or kitchen help at the Children’s Center
Wednesday- Pat’s feeding program, bible study in Kibera with Power Women Group
Thursday- projects at the K-branch, then projects at the Children’s Center
Friday- caring for the babies at the baby center, visit to Village Market
Saturday- Children’s Center or visit Jikaze or hang out at home

Side note- in Kenya the power goes out…. ‘because it’s Kenya’. At anytime, anyplace (restaurants, school, at the house, in church) the power randomly goes out. It stays out usually for no more than a few minutes, but because it’s so common, no one even flinches, but just carries on with what they were doing…. ‘because it’s Kenya’.

It was time for the one haircut of the trip, so I just tried it myself in the backyard!

We were touring a children's home last week before heading out on home visits, and they showed us where they use their cattle and make bio-gas for the cook stove in the children's home!

A small clinic inside this railcar at a local church

The doctor at above clinic offering locals an alternative to the far away hospitals

Packing food for Care for Aids clients

Making whales in a paper folding lesson at the K-branch... once finished, they all wanted to draw Jonah inside

Another class showing off their whales

I helped these ladies, Veronica and Jennifer, peel about 300+ potatoes the other day
