Visiting family!

We headed south of London to the Sussex region of England to visit some relatives. Mitch, my paternal grandfather, is English. He is an only child, but close to his first cousins. Rainer and I met up with Michael, one of his cousins, and his wife Jo; their three boys Daniel, Adam and Joseph and their three families including Lucinda, Jackie and Lena and all their children.

It was so neat to meet relatives in England. They were so kind and hospitable. Lena picked us up from the train station (after an error in train travel cost us a ticket and a fine=boo), and took us to their really cool house in the country. It was built from an old barn using some beams that are older than our country. She fed us a yummy snack of eggs, ham, toast, cookies, cake, juice, tea and more. We met her four boys and Joseph when he got home.

Then we all piled in and headed to Daniel and Lucinda’s where everyone met up for dinner. They have a beautiful home that was once the Rectory for the local Church. We walked the grounds and visited their horses before having a delicious dinner of grilled meats, salads, potatoes and a very tasty dessert with toffee, bananas and cream. It was a great night!

The following day Daniel and Lucinda drove us to Lewes, a town nearby, where we toured a castle and learned about the battle that resulted in creation of the parliament. They treated us to a great lunch and dropped us at the airport to continue our journey to Switzerland.
